Position: Field Technician/Installer

Location: 1007 N Orange St. Wilmington, DE 19801

Start date: Immediately

Position Overview: We seek flexible, conscientious, and dependable Field Technicians to support our customers in Wilmington, DE. Initial openings are for full-time or contractor roles; which may become full-time employment.  We have been voted one of Wilmington’s top start-ups.  Working for WhyFly is like holding on to a rocket, we are growing so fast!  Our installers are the face of the company and we don’t forget that.

  • Plan installations by reviewing work orders, gathering supplies, evaluating the location, locating access, formulating wiring plans, and assembling equipment.
  • Install and program radio and network equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, replace, and upgrade components for network maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate installation, service, and inventory records. “Don’t lose your goodies”
  • Be a “BOSS” when it comes to customer service and doing the right thing
    • “Work Hard, Be Honest, Do the Right Thing”
  • Coordinate schedules with customers.
  • Communicate the wiring plan and equipment lay-out with customer prior to the installation.
  • Follow industry codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures while working autonomously.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following safe practices and adhering to safety policies.
  • Refer to and interpret schematics, manuals, and manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Update and improve job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications, and participating in on-going technical training.


  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders up to 26 feet, and work on rooftops of buildings Must be able to work outside in all seasons.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license in Delaware or surrounding. Can make it here by 9 am.
  • Must be able to speak clearly, concisely, and in a courteous and professional manner
  • 2+ years of experience in telecommunications, electrical, construction, or related field preferred but if you are smart, willing to learn, and has an attitude that is AWESOME as S**t we want to speak with you.

Awesome Customer Champion

WhyFly is currently looking for a passionate and analytical but mostly awesome Awesome Customer Champion to join our Team.  We provide internet service to businesses and residents via wireless and fiber-based delivery.  Do you genuinely enjoy making people’s lives better and free of corporate gluten?

You will play a leading role in the future of our infrastructure and help us design and implement our network design at all our customers with scalability, efficiency, and security in focus.  Said better, you will do really cool stuff and make s#@t happen.  

Above all, your work will change the model for internet delivery.

What you’ll do

  • Address incoming installation and service requests via phone, email, chat, and social media.
  • Perform 1st level support function by walking customers through basic network troubleshooting like Ping.
  • Collaborate with other team members to diagnose, resolve, and prevent production issues.
  • Create service tickets within primary ticketing system.
  • Escalate and schedule service calls as needed for tier 2 and 3 tech support resources.
  • Follow up with customers regarding installation and service performance, document suggestions and ratings within ticketing system.
  • Respond to monitoring system alerts and address and escalate as required.
  • Help develop Standard Operating Procedures and documentation regarding service and support delivery.
  • Participate in the team’s on-call rotation.

Who you are

  • You have experience in the customer support field in both retail or phone support.
  • You love to improve workflow efficiency and explore the latest automation solutions in our industry, if not developing them yourself!
  • It’s a plus if you’ve worked with monitoring and management solutions for network environments such as PRTG, Pingdom.
  • You have experience managing both wired and wireless networks.
  • You’re creative, curious, eager to learn, and you quickly pick up on new trends and technologies.
  • You are pragmatic and understand the trade-off between the perfect solution and the working solution.
  • You are analytical and don’t shy away from problems to which you don’t have an immediate answer. You also seek the information you need and know where or how to find it.
  • You are a team player with a customer service mentality and actively collaborate with people around you to find solutions to problems. “Hi I am Awesome and around awesome people, we all become more awesome”
  • You naturally want to document your work and spread your knowledge and learnings with others.
